Class System
“When it comes this world, what do you strive for?”
The last question the player answers will dictate their starting class. There are three classes, and each has their own master quest as well as their own bonuses. While the player has free reign to do as they wish within the region, their class will put limitations on how far they can progress in certain areas. The player must challenge one gym, restore one Lab’s central machine, and complete one contest round in order to progress past the first area of the game. When the other areas become unlocked, they’ll have the opportunity to change their class to something else before being locked into it. Note that the “bases” (Dojo/Lab/Ranch) and starting items for each class won’t be granted until AFTER this decision.
Trainer“I want to be the very best, like no one ever was.”
The Trainer is the closest to the main series Pokémon games in terms of how it’s played. The master quest is to be the next Pokémon Master, which is done by beating all the gyms, the Elite Four, the Champion and a special trial unique to this class. When this is done the player will have a one-on-one battle with the previous Pokémon Master, and if they win, they will have mastered the Trainer class.
The Trainer Class starts their journey in the most standard way; they’re coming of age and want to get their first Starter Pokémon to begin their quest to challenge every gym in the region. When they arrive at Professor Ginkgo’s Lab, they are presented with the three starters for the region, albeit with a twist. The player will be allowed to pick their starter’s Nature and Ability, it’s IVs will be a perfect 31 for each stat, and they start at level ten rather than five. Researcher“I want to discover the world of Pokémon.”
Researchers are a unique class with hundreds of options to explore. The mastery quest is to restore the Holon Research Tower in the Holon region, which can only be accessed by this Class. To get to the region, the player must restore all the previous Pokémon Labs in the main region to a fully functional state. Each Lab specializes in something different, and will unlock features for the player based on what they specialize in.
The Researcher class starts like the Trainer class, in that the player is going to obtain their Starter Pokémon. When they arrive at Professor Ginkgo’s Lab however, they are entranced by all the technology, despite how torn down it is a this point in the game. When the Professor asks what Pokémon they want to choose, the player states that they no longer want one and want to learn about the Lab instead. From that point on, they become Professor Ginkgo’s apprentice and are given the task for restoring the Lab’s main feature, a Happiness Generator. Ginkgo decides that even if they won’t be challenging any Gyms in their future, they might as well get a Starter Pokémon to help them out, so they open the PC and show them a Starter Pokémon database that Professors pull from when presenting starters to new Trainers. The database gives access to starters from every region and allows them to pick from a much wider pool than they could normally. Additional starters outside of main series regions include Pichu, Rockruff, Growlithe, Lillipup, Vulpix, Eevee, Riolu, and Shinx. The Starter’s gender can be chosen, but everything else will be random. Other traits exclusive to the Researcher class:

Breeder“I want to catch ‘em all.”
The Breeder class is meant to be the embodiment of the classic phrase “Gotta catch ‘em all!”. Their master quest is to have a complete Dex and clear all five Contest Halls. Megas, shinies, and certain alternate forms won’t count towards it, but other Pokémon not normally needed will. Once all the previous 800 or so Pokémon have been caught, Arceus becomes available to the player, allowing them to max out the Pokedex and master the Breeder class.
Breeders start off on their way to receive their Starter from Ginkgo’s Lab like the Trainer and Researcher classes, but halfway through the path, they find an empty Pokedex on the ground. The player decides to put in their bag and ask the Professor about it when they arrive. This eventually leads to a conversation about the elusive Living Dex, a goal that only truly determined Pokémon fans strive for. The player states that they want to try for themselves, so Professor Ginkgo gives them a head start by letting them have all three starters for the region instead of just one. The starters have completely random characteristics much like in the original games. Other traits exclusive to the Breeder class:
